If your lawn is still scorched from the long hot summer, then now is the time to start over. And now is the perfect time to start over, just keep up with the watering. And instead of a total renovation of rototiling, adding fill and or sodding, try a less expensive way by verticuting, thatching and slice seeding. Be sure to loosen up existing soils and choose varieties of seed that Will do well under the conditions of your property. Your local garden store should be able to help with this. If not drop me a line and I can go into further details. But remember, if you are going to renovate your lawn, now is the perfect time. Warm days, cool nights and I am even predicting periods of rain later in September. Don't forget to lime and put down a good Starter Fert. Don't worry about weeds, they are going by and can be treated next spring.
Plant of the Post
My Hibiscus that I took from my mother-in laws house in Delaware is just about to flower. A white platter with a red middle and a stem. Although I had this one outside last winter I think I will bring it in this year. I have not had good success with taking root cuttings from Joan's and cultivating here. So I do not want to lose this one.
Tip
Keep that water pumping. All new plantings and even ones that are three years in the ground need water. And with the coming of dormancy trees and shrubs will really start storing nutrients. So help it along with water.
