Welcome

The first Gardening blog with Eddie and here in the Northeast we are easily 2weeks ahead of bloom time with all the trees and shrubs. Today we started preparing our seasonal beds by pulling all the old daffiodils and rototilling in some organic material. We will be getting ready to plant our annuals in them. Also the grass mowing is in full swing and we have put down Pre M control at half the rate and will hit it again in Mid to Late May. The weather here has been strange, so I am looking forward to good growing season.

In case you have not figured it out I am a grounds manager for a local college. Eveyday I will post what our chores have been and sometimes why. We are in the midst of edging and remulching all our plant beds. It is very important to take out some old mulch so that the beds do not get to high on the trees and shrubbery creating gridling and damaging expensive plant material. We use close to 600 yards of mulch every year. Also it has been very dry, so any new plants and the lawns all need water.

Plant of the Post Eastern Red Bud, Long lasting bloom. Tree grows 20 to 30 feet. It can get damaged with heavy snow. We cable ours.

Politics I have to have section about this because My own newspaper is not that informative. Being from and Living in Springfield Ma. I wish there was better news coverage in this end of the state. The local legislation seems to have a lot of challengers. Even a guy who just got out of Jail. We will see how many coat tales Scott Brown has. Anothermurder in the City, I think Mayor Sarno has done an excellent job though, he cares and is working very hard. I wish all the City workers worked as hard as this guy.

Good Luck Eddie Pags
