Weather

Sticky

A very sticky morning and a rainy afternoon. And although we need the rain, we do not need as much as we had last summer. After a beautiful week-end our annual plants are taking hold. They are popping up and look vigorous. There is good color on them and plenty of new buds. We will wait to see what the weather looks like and give them a shot of Jacks Bloom Booster next week. With this rain we will also have to cultivate everything. And I can not stress how important that is. Softening and fluffing ensure root growth, good air movement around the plant and better water saturation. So get them cultivators out of the shed. You will see the difference in the health of he plants right away. So your hard work will be rewarding. My peony's at home, or I should say Mary's, are getting ready to pop. We o not have any at the campus ad I am starting to wonder why and where I can plant some. May-be in our Leadership Garden. Easy plant to take care of. You have to have it planted at the correct depth or it will not boom.

Plant of the Post
In our leadership garden and here at home we have Red Twig Dogwood. Some people call the variegated Dogwood or Silky Dogwood. But I think they are called Red Twig. The stems are red and give you color in the winter. A variegated leaf that is about 2 inch's long. A pretty specimen in the landscape. Adds a touch of elegance, In my case I wanted the winter color at the Leadership Garden. And here at home it was here when I arrived.  I seem to have a problem trimming mine and have seen them sheared and shaped. Yet when I do mine at home they do not recover well and in some cases I have  lot of die back. So I think I will just leave them natural for now. Also I have frost damage to one of them and I am seeing a lot of frost damage to Japanese maples. They will grow out and be fine. Just give them extra water in the summer an fert in late fall.

Fineto
Here's a simple meal, Rub some Montreal Chicken Rub on Some legs and thighs and cook on grill for 25 minutes. Steam up Some vegetables and had a salad. Nothing more simple then that.
My father James V. Pagliaro and his brother Antonio F. Pagliaro married first cousins, Kathleen Farrell and Marie A. Kelley. And although there were a lot of aunts and uncles in my family, none were inter twined like these four. So I guess that starts that part of the story.
I look forward to another round of blooms may-be the hostas.

Prediction

Celtics / Lakers 7 games and I really want the C's

                                                           Good Luck Eddie P
P.S. I like the garden weasel to do my cultivating.
